Lesson Outline
1. Recap of HTML Basics (5 minutes):
- Quickly review key HTML concepts covered in the previous lesson to ensure a foundational understanding.
- Emphasize the separation of content (HTML) and presentation (CSS).
2. Introduction to CSS (10 minutes):
- Define what CSS is (Cascading Style Sheets) and its role in web development.
- Explain how CSS is used to control the appearance of HTML elements.
3. CSS Syntax and Selectors (3 minutes):
- Introduce the basic syntax of CSS rules:
- Discuss different types of selectors (element selectors, class selectors, id selectors).
- Explain the concept of cascading and specificity in CSS.
4. Common CSS Properties (2 minutes):
- Cover common CSS properties such as
color,font-family,font-size,margin,padding,border, andbackground. - Demonstrate how to apply these properties to HTML elements.
- Encourage students to experiment with changing styles in real-time.
5. Box Model (5 minutes):
- Explain the box model concept in CSS, which includes content, padding, border, and margin.
- Discuss how to manipulate the box model to control the layout and spacing of elements.
Classroom Activities (15 minutes):
- Have students apply CSS styles to the HTML page they created in the previous lesson.
- Instruct them to change colors, fonts, margins, and other properties to enhance the visual appearance of their web page.
- Walk around and assist students as needed.
