Topic: Computer Software and Operating System Time: 45 minutes
Sub-topic: Types of Operating System on the basis of User Mode

Specific Objectives:

At the end of this topic the students will be able to:

a)  Understand the types of operating system on the basis of user mode with few examples.

Teaching Materials:

Whiteboard, Marker, Book, Notes and Computer.

Teaching Learning Activities:

a)  At first, I will revise the topic which was taught last day within five minutes.

b)  Then I will list out the types of operating system on the basis of User’s Interface. i.e.

(i)            Single User Single Tasking OS: Example: MS-DOS, PC-DOS.

(ii)          Single User Multi-Tasking OS: Example: MS-Windows, Linux, Mac OS

(iii)        Multi User Multi-Tasking OS: Example: MS-Windows 2003 Server, UNIX

c)    I will also clear the doubt of the students if any.

Evaluation:

a)   Why MS-DOS is single user single tasking OS?

b) Which OS allows multiple user to perform multiple task at a time?
