Sub-topic: Meaning and Definition of Computer Software

Specific Objectives:

At the end of this topic the students will be able to:

a) Understand the meaning of computer software.

b) Define the term computer software with few examples.

Teaching Materials:

Whiteboard, Marker, Book, Notes and Computer.

a) At first, I will revise the topic which was taught last day within five minutes.

b) Then I will tell briefly about the term ‘program’ and then only about ‘software’.

c) After that I will give the proper definition of ‘program’ and ‘computer software’ as mentioned below:

Program: A set of instructions that perform specific task in the computer is known as program.

Software: The collection of programs that tells the computer what to do and how to perform the task in the computer is known as software.

d) Later on, I will give some examples of computer software such as MS-Word, VLC Player, Google Chrome, Windows 10, etc.

e) I will also clear the doubt of the students if any.

a) Name the software which you have in your computer system.

b) Does computer, work without software?
