Subject: Computer Organization & Architecture                                                                                           Class :BICT 3rd Semester

Unit:       1                                                                                                                        Time: 15 minutes

Topic:   Introduction of computer system                                                                                  Period: 3rd

Teaching Item: Bus organization of computer system

Specific Objectives:

At the end of this class, students will be able:

  • To define bus of computer system
  • To draw bus organization of computer system

Teaching Materials:

  • Daily usages materials

Teaching learning activities:

  • At the beginning of the session with today's topic and objectives.
  • After discussion, I will explain define bus and its type.

A bus is a subsystem that is used to connect computer components and transfer data between them. There are three types of bus lines: Data bus, Address bus, and Control bus. Communication over each bus line is performed in cooperation with another.

  • After that, I will demonstrate the block diagram of computer bus organization.
  • After that, I will explain types of bus.

Address bus- unidirectional, used to carry the memory or I/O device address to which the data is to be transferred

Data bus- bidirectional, used to transfer data between the microprocessor and other components

Control bus- bidirectional, used to carry control signals between the microprocessor and other components

  • At last, Sum up the topic and let students ask questions about this lesson and response them.

Evaluation:

  • Which bus is unidirectional bus?
  • Which bus carries control signals?
