Class: BICTE 4th Semester                                              Date: 2024/02/11

Subject: System Analysis and Design                               Time: 50 min

Unit: 5                                                                            Number of Students: 15

Topic: User-Centered System Design

1.    Specific Objective:

At the end of this lesson, students will be able:

  •      To introduce students to the concept of User-Centered System Design (UCSD).
  •      To explain the phases and process involved in UCSD.
  •      To discuss the benefits of adopting a user-centered approach in system design.

2.    Instructional materials:

3.    Teaching Learning Activities:

  •      Welcome the students and introduce the topic of User-Centered System Design (UCSD).
  •      Define UCSD as an approach that prioritizes the needs, preferences, and behaviors of users throughout the design process.
  •      Outline the phases involved in UCSD.
  •      Discuss the iterative nature of the UCSD process, emphasizing the continuous involvement of users throughout.
  •      Highlight the importance of collaboration among multidisciplinary teams (designers, developers, researchers, etc.) in UCSD.
  •      Enumerate the benefits of adopting a user-centered approach in system design.
  •      Provide examples showcasing the positive outcomes of UCSD projects.
  •      Summarize key takeaways from the lesson.
  •      Encourage students to explore further resources on UCSD and consider its application in their future projects.
  •      Invite questions and feedback from the students.

4.    Assessment:

  •      Describe the phases involved in UCSD and the activities typically performed in each phase.
  •      Identify at least two benefits of adopting a user-centered approach in system design and provide examples to support your answer.

5.    Evaluation:

Propose a plan for integrating UCSD into a software development project, outlining the steps to be taken in each phase.
