Objective:

Students will be able to identify and describe the basic components of computer hardware.

Materials Needed:

Introduction (5 minutes):

• Greet the students and introduce the topic of the day: Computer Hardware.
• Explain that computer hardware refers to the physical components of a computer system.

Overview of Computer Hardware (5 minutes):

1. • Discuss the importance of computer hardware in enabling computers to perform various tasks.
   • Explain that computer hardware consists of internal and external components.

Internal Components (15 minutes):

1. 

   a. Central Processing Unit (CPU):
   • Define the CPU as the "brain" of the computer responsible for processing instructions.
   • Discuss the role of the CPU in executing programs and performing calculations.
   • b. Memory (RAM):
   • Explain RAM as temporary storage used by the computer to store data and program instructions that are currently in use.
   • Discuss the importance of RAM in determining the speed and performance of a computer.
   • c. Storage Devices:
   • Introduce different types of storage devices such as hard disk drives (HDDs) and solid-state drives (SSDs).
   • Explain the role of storage devices in storing data and programs for long-term use.

External Components (10 minutes):

1. a. Monitor:

   

   • Describe the monitor as the display screen that allows users to see what the computer is doing.

   • Discuss different types of monitors (e.g., LCD, LED) and their features.

     b. Keyboard and Mouse:
   • Explain the keyboard and mouse as input devices used to interact with the computer.

   • mouse is a hand operated pointing device.
   • Discuss the functions of the keyboard for typing and the mouse for pointing and clicking.
