Sub-topic: Spam, Phishing, and protection from cyber crime

Specific Objectives:

At the end of this topic the students will be able to:

a)  Know about spam and phishing.

b)  Know some preventive measures from cyber crime.

Teaching Materials:

Whiteboard, Marker, Book, Notes, Projector and Computer.

Teaching Learning Activities:

a)  At first, I will revise the topic which was taught last day within five minutes.

b)  Then I will define spam and phishing which is mentioned below:

“Spam is digital junk mail; unsolicited communication sent in bulk over the internet or through any electronic messaging system.”

“Phishing is a type of cyber crime in which victims are contacted by email, telephone, or text message by an attacker posing as a trustworthy entity in order to obtain sensitive information or data, such as login credentials, credit card details, or other personally identifiable information.”

c)   Likewise, I will also tell some preventive measures from cyber crime as mentioned below:

(i)            Keep software and operating system up to date.

(ii)          Use antivirus software and keep it updated.

(iii)        Use strong password.

(iv)        Never open attachment in spam emails.

(v)          Do not click on links in spam emails or untrusted websites, etc.

d)   I will also clear the doubt of the students if any.

Evaluation:

a)   Define spam.

b)   Say any one protection from cyber crime.
