Subject : Computer Graphics

Period: Fourth

Topic: Computer Graphics and Hardware

Teaching Item: Hardcopy Output Devices: Printer, Plotter

Level: Bachelor 6th sem

Unit: One

Time: 50 min

No. of Students:

Specific Objective

At the end of this lesson students will be able to:

  • identify the types and features of hardcopy output devices, specifically printers and plotters.
  • explore the applications and differences between printers and plotters in graphic design

Teaching Materials

  • Laptop
  • Presentation slide
  • Projector
  • Daily usage materials
  • Different types of images

Teaching Learning Activities

  1. Start the lesson by discussing previous days topic importance of input device and introduce the topic of hardcopy output devices.
  2. Provide a detailed explanation of printers, their types (inkjet, laser, etc.), working principles, resolution, and quality output.
  3. Show the images that are print from different types of printer.
  4. Discuss plotters, their differences from printers, usage in CAD applications, precision drawing capabilities, and large format printing.
  5. Encourage students to ask questions related to input devices, printers, and plotters to ensure understanding.

Assessment

1. What are the primary differences between printers and plotters in terms of output size, functionality and resolution? 2. Explain the importance of resolution in selecting an output device for graphic design work.
