Time: 45 Minutes Period: 4th

Number of Students: School: Adarsha Secondary School, Layaku, Thimi

Specific Objectives

At end of the class

  • introduce computer hardware
  • define input hardware
  • recognize input hardware

Teaching Materials

  1. Whiteboard and markers
  2. Computer hardware samples picture
  3. Image of Input Hardware
  4. Internet access for multimedia resources

Introduction

  • Begin with a brief discussion about computer hardware and input hardware.
  • Introduce the main objective: to understand computer hardware, with a focus on input devices.
  • Discuss why input hardware are crucial for user interaction with a computer
  • Define input devices and provide examples (keyboard, mouse, touchpad, etc.).
  • Explain the concept of human-computer interaction and how input devices facilitate it.

Main Components and Functions (15 minutes):

  1. Keyboard:
    • Discuss the layout and functions of a standard keyboard.
    • Mention special keys and their uses (function keys, control keys).
  2. Mouse and Pointing Devices:
    • Explain the role of the mouse as a pointing device.
    • Introduce touchpads, trackballs, and other pointing devices.
  3. Other Input Devices:
    • Briefly discuss other input devices such as , webcams, microphones, etc.
    • Explain their specific functions and applications.

Interactive Activity :

  • Engage students in an interactive activity. Provide Real examples of input devices and ask students to categorize them as either keyboards, pointing devices, or other input devices.

Homework/Extended Learning:

Assign a short research task where students investigate emerging input devices or advancements in existing input technologies. They can present their findings in the next class.
