Specific Objectives

  • At the end of the class students will be able to
    1. Define workbook,worksheet and cell.
    2. Format the cells and use SUM, AVERAGE and COUNT function for calculation.

  • Computers with Microsoft Excel installed
  • Projector or interactive whiteboard
  • Slides

Teaching Learning Activity

  • Begin a class by discussing about the MS Excel and importance of Microsoft Excel in organizing and analyzing data
  • Introduce key terms: workbook, worksheet, cell, column, row.
  • Demonstrate how to open Microsoft Excel and create a new workbook.
  • Guide students through the process of adding and renaming worksheets within the workbook
  • Demonstrate how to enter data into cells and basic formatting options, such as changing font styles, sizes, and cell alignment.
  • Introduce cell formatting tools like borders, shading, and text color.
  • Introduce simple Excel formulas like SUM, AVERAGE, and COUNT and dmonstrate it with examples and allows students to practice in thier computers.
  • Guide the students to entry data in cell ,formatting and working with formulas.
  • Summarize the key points covered in the lesson: workbooks, worksheets, basic formatting, and simple formulas.
  • Encourage students to ask questions.

Evaluation

  1. What is workbook and worksheet?
  2. Enter these data in cell in column A and find sum and average by using SUM and Average function ? Also count the numbers of data entry?
