Objective : To To introduce students to the concept of software and its various types and to familiarize students their applications.
Teaching Materials : Whiteboard and marker , Slide shows.
Teaching learning activities Define software and its importance in the functioning of computer. Explain the role of software in controlling hardware and executing tasks. Types of Software:
System Software: Definition and examples (Operating Systems, Device Drivers, Utilities). Explain how system software manages hardware resources and provides essential functionalities.
Application Software: Definition and examples (Word Processors, Spreadsheets, Web Browsers, Games). Discuss how application software serves specific user needs and tasks. Programming Software: Definition and examples (Compilers, Interpreters, Integrated Development Environments). Explain the role of programming software in creating other software applications. Classification based on Purpose: Categorizing software as per their functions (Productivity, Multimedia, Communication, Entertainment, etc.). Discuss examples within each category.
Evaluation : tell students to read and write the purpose of each software they classified.
